I’m Whitney Shields, a strategist and operations consultant with over a decade of experience guiding mission-driven organizations through complex project landscapes. From budget oversight and organizational planning to cross-functional coordination and grant management, I specialize in building the operational backbone that allows impactful programs to thrive.
My work has spanned nonprofits, academia, and international development — including managing a $15 million portfolio, launching legal food access initiatives in Vermont, and leading food security efforts as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo.
Across every role, I’ve brought a systems-thinking mindset to streamline operations, clarify strategy, and support collaborative, values-aligned work.
I hold a Master’s in Food and Agriculture Law and Policy from Vermont Law and Graduate School and a background in community development, legal services, and grassroots organizing. My consulting practice focuses on operational design, strategic project management, and cross-sector alignment for organizations committed to social equity and sustainable food systems.
When I'm not partnering with clients, you’ll find me volunteering at a local food shelf, helping out at an animal sanctuary, or enjoying life in rural New England with my toddler and dog.
